Thank you one & all from Windsor Partner’s Inc. and Friends
What a glorious day we had for the Corn Festival and Tractor Show. The weather could not have been more perfect. We had more attendees than ever before and by all accounts, people seemed very happy with the event. Most of the vendors did very well and enjoyed being a part of the day. Bill Kappler entertained with hayride after hay ride and the crowds loved checking out the tractors. The Windsor Historical Society and Old Onaquaga Historical Society provided local history info and a newly formed organization, 19 Cemeteries of Windsor made their introductory debut. Southern Tier Beekeepers set up an informative display. The FFA Group hosted the Corn Shucking Tournament and last year’s reigning champion, Jeramie Rounds, took first place again this year and retained his self-proclaimed title of Corn King. Isabel Cannistra won the Candy Corn Count Contest and took home all the candy corn with her perfect guess of 329 pieces. April Cease won the Texas Roadhouse Gift Card from Acclaim Insurance Agency, Inc.
The new Children’s tent sponsored by the Windsor Partners was a big hit with many different activities and prizes including a duck race designed by Jody and duck decorating. Of course, Catholic Communities of Eastern Broome and the Penn Girl Scout troop provided lots of games and fun as well.
Music and food were plentiful and we were privileged to have a new vendor, Corny Debbie, who brought 13 different flavors of popcorn – hope you got to try some. Bags of fresh picked corn on the cob left the park to enjoy at a later time, while literally hundreds of people enjoyed walking around with their roasted corn and other treats. Windsor Human Development was grateful for the food and monetary donations our wonderful community provided to help them help others.
The 50/50 prize was won by Renee Conklin, who generously donated it back to the Windsor Partners. As I am writing this, I am reflecting on how caring and generous our community truly is and how fortunate we are to have such a wonderful group of friends and neighbors. We did not have enough volunteers and we will need more help if this event is to continue, so let us know if you can help, but the volunteers we did have worked tirelessly to bring you the best Corn Festival we have ever had.
Lastly, but certainly not least, thank you sincerely to our sponsors: Bluestone Wind Farm, The Village and Town of Windsor, Windsor Youth Sports and Recreation, Dan Burdick from Danwood Products, Bill and Linda Titus, Heller Farms and Acclaim Insurance Agency, Inc. Without their generous donations, the Windsor Corn Fest & Tractor Show would not have been possible.
Until we meet again……in anticipation of First Knight!
