Windsor has always been a busy agricultural community.
According to our Historical Essays of Windsor book there were 230 farms in Windsor in 1950. Just 15 years later that number had dropped to 93 working farms. Sadly, that number is even less today. Although the statistics have changed, Windsor is still an active agricultural community.

There may be fewer working farms but all the categories of agriculture are seen throughout the town of Windsor; including horses, beef and dairy cows, sheep, pigs, poultry and goats. The list also includes greenhouses and nurseries which cover everything from Christmas tree farms to perennial and bedding plants. Fruits & vegetables are also cultivated and sold locally, including grapes, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, tomatoes and pumpkins. The list could also include honeybees, maple syrup and the products associated with them. Hay and Straw are still grown in Windsor and oftentimes delivered to sustain the abovementioned livestock and produce.

The Windsor Farmer’s Market was started in 1992 and continues to set up on the village green each Saturday morning from mid May through October.
